Thomas Markle has finally spoken up about the royal drama involving his daughter Meghan Markle and son-in-law Prince Harry. The duchess' estranged dad called out the royal family for spreading lies about her family life and he also did not mince words about what he really thinks of Prince Harry and Meghan's decision to leave the royal family.

In the televised interview, Thomas admitted that he took offense when Prince Harry told BBC that Meghan had a "family she never had" with the royals. The former lighting director said that this was a lie and that it was wrong for the royal family to think this way because prior to meeting her husband, Meghan had two excellent families -- her solo mom, Doria Ragland, and her dad's side with her half-siblings.

Thomas said that Meghan and his other children used to come around to celebrate the holidays together. The Markles also supported the former American TV actress in whatever she got into.

He also added that his daughter took care of him as much as he took care of her. Thomas claimed that he and Meghan got along very well before all these royal problems came.

Thomas also revealed that he was jealous of Prince Charles, who walked his daughter down the aisle when she got married to Prince Harry in May 2018. He was supposed to do this honor but was banned from the royal event after he made secret deals with the paparazzi before the royal wedding.

Days later, Thomas was at the emergency room for heart surgery and was advised by doctors that he won't be able to fly to London. The last time he talked to his daughter was during his recovery.

Despite his gripes with Prince Harry and the royal family, Meghan's father still thinks that it was wrong for the Sussexes to pack their life to Canada and leave their royal duties behind. Embarrassed by his daughter's actions, Thomas said that Prince Harry and Meghan are cheapening and destroying a long-living institution.

In early January, Prince Harry and Meghan announced that they will be stepping back as senior royals. They also want to start earning their own income and separate their time in the U.K. and North America.

Meanwhile, Thomas will likely be called in court to testify in a case Prince Harry and Meghan filed against the Daily Mail. Thomas gave the news outlet a copy of his daughter's letter to him before she got married and Sussex lawyers said this was a breach of their privacy.
