Although Star Trek: Picard season 2 is not yet here, lead star Partick Stewart invites his former Star Trek: The Next Generation co-star Whoopi Goldberg to be part of the second installment. Many were touched to this heartwarming moment and seeing these two possibly reuniting hyped up the series ahead of its premiere.

In an interview on Wednesday on The View, Stewart was promoting the freshman series a day before its release on CBS All Access. While having a conversation with the co-hosts, the actor suddenly made an important announcement about Star Trek: Picard season 2.

Stewart formally asked his former castmate, Goldberg, to be part of Star Trek: Picard season 2. He then revealed that the senior executive producer of the series, Alex Kurtzman, and all his colleagues -- including Stewart -- want to invite her into the second installment.

Goldberg was stunned at Stewart's invitation, she then embraced him and responded to his offer. She said Star Trek was one of the greatest experiences -- from the beginning until the end. It looks like her remarks hint she's accepting the offer and open to appearing in Star Trek: Picard season 2.

Goldberg played the role of Guinan on TNG; a centuries-old member of El-Aurian alien race and a trusted confidant of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. She first appeared on the TNG season 2 premiere episode, which was released in 1988. Goldberg then continued appearing on Star Trek franchise through Season 6 in 1993.

As for what will happen to Goldberg in Star Trek: Picard season 2, nothing is confirmed at the moment as everything still depends on her schedule and availability. But, Goldberg was able to do several roles before while being part of the daytime talk show at the same time.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Goldberg will indeed joining the second installment and will reprise her role as Guinan. Since nothing is confirmed right now, fans should wait for a little while to see if this invitation will become a reality.

Aside from Stewart playing Jean-Luc Picard, Star Trek: Picard also stars Isa Briones as Dahj, Alison Pill as Agnes Jurati, Santiago Cabrera as Cristobal "Chris" Rios, Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musiker, Harry Treadaway as Narek, Evan Evagora as Elnor, Brent Spiner as Data, Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh, and Jonathan Frakes as William Riker.

Star Trek: Picard premieres on Thursday, Jan. 23, on CBS. As for the second installment, no further details have been revealed so far.
