NCIS season 17 episode 14 is set to arrive on CBS next week, with the title "On Fire." This episode will be an important one for Nick Torres, as he's facing a life-and-death situation. He became a victim of a hit-and-run and he's now fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit.

Wilmer Valderrama's character will be in focus in the upcoming NCIS season 17 episode 14. In the promo, Nick and Ellie Bishop were jogging together. However, they become victims of hit-and-run after a speeding car knocks down Nick and injures Ellie.

It looks like the accident didn't just come out of nowhere. It is possible that what happened to Nick and Ellie was caused by something big, so the team needs to figure out the real reason behind it. They have to search for clues, as well as the people in the car.

The promo also showed Gibbs asking Ellie how Nick is, she answered: "It's bad." His current condition also made fans think what will now happen to him and Ellie and, whether or not, they'll eventually end up together. What's going on with Nick now would make her consider her own feelings.

Does Ellie have romantic feelings for him? Perhaps, her true feelings for him will be awakened and, if ever Nick survives, their relationship will likely be explored. Yet, in the NCIS world, some unexpected things usually happen. So, viewers should be prepared for the character's future.

Right now, Nick's fate is up in the air but there's no indication the character is leaving the series. He's one of the leading NCIS agents over the past few years. He first joined the series in 2016 and he became one of the significant characters since then.

But, it's also worth noting this isn't the first time NCIS killed off their finest agents. For instance, season 1 saw the death of Agent Kaitlin Todd, who was shot in the head by a terrorist named Ari Haswari. Other key characters who also met their ultimate demise include Ned Dorneget, Christopher Pacci, Jennifer Shepard, and Paula Cassidy.

Meanwhile, CBS will be airing an old episode after NCIS season 17 episode 14, which is set to arrive on Feb. 4. After that, episode 15 will be available on Feb. 11. Some speculated the network is delaying the episode because of the potential cliffhanger in "On Fire."

NCIS season 17 episode 14 will air on Tuesday, Jan. 28, on CBS.
