Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are still at the center of many reports these past few days following their "bombshell" announcement. Upon the Sussex couple's return in London after their six-week off from royal duties, they released a statement revealing that they are now signing off as senior royals.
After numerous talks and negotiations, especially with Queen Elizabeth II and other senior members of the British Royal Family, the so-called "Megxit" deal has finally concluded. However, the details of the Duke and Duchess' security, as well as their son, Archie Harrison's, upon starting a new chapter of their lives as "non-working" royals, are still unknown.
Many individuals have called the subject into question as no updates have been given about the matter. Several publications previously "suggested" that Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau already "assured" the Queen that the country and its government is "prepared" to shoulder parts of the costs.
Quite obviously, these claims immediately caught the attention of many, most especially the taxpaying population of the country. But, as per Express UK, Justin Trudeau denied all these stories as he reportedly "refuses" to pay for the security costs of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
According to the publication, the Prime Minister released a statement on Tuesday that there have been no talks that happened between him, as well as the Canadian government, and Queen Elizabeth II. "I have not spoken to Her Majesty directly," he told the reporters.
He also explained that the "discussions" about the matter are still "ongoing." There are "no updates" yet as of this moment, Justin Trudeau added.
Along with the Prime Minister of Canada, the Public Safety Minister of the country, Bill Blair also reportedly shared his thoughts about the controversial exit of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Based on his statements, the Canadian government "was carrying out" assessments toward that Sussex family's "security needs" as they now choose to stay in the said country. However, things have "not yet been resolved."
The Star noted that Bill Blair is also the responsible person for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Even so, the minister denied that the Sussex couple has been receiving any protection from the RCMP.
He explained that, normally, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would fall under the protection of the RCMP given the terms of the UN Protection of Diplomats Convention. But, now that the couple is no longer "active royals," their status is left in question with regard to security protocols under the said terms.
