Legendary singer The One, recently, appeared as a guest for MBC's Video Star and revealed why Taeyeon decided to join SM Entertainment out of all the record labels in Korea.
According to The One, who also worked as a vocal coach for over 400 aspiring singers in Korea, Taeyeon chose to sign with SM Entertainment because of her love for TVXQ, reported All Kpop.
"Taeyeon was a gemstone. The cool thing about her is that she joined the company as she always wanted to. She loved TVXQ and wanted to join the company, and finally achieved her dream," The One said during the interview.
He also shared that Taeyeon shared a lot of things in common with members of TVXQ. The One said that out of all the singers he worked with, Girls Generation and TVXQ were the most memorable because of their discipline and passion.
Taeyeon, a member of SNSD or Girls' Generation, has been doing well as a solo artist these days. She, recently, concluded The Unseen three-day concert for her fans in Korea where she thanked her fans for their support and love over the years.
The singer also shared her struggles as she performed on stage despite the challenges she experienced recently. While she did not specifically mention the death of her good friends Sulli and Goo Hara last year, fans have expressed worry that Taeyeon may be experiencing depression because of the shocking deaths of her friends a month apart from each other.
In terms of her music, Taeyeon has steadily been earning praise for her recent comeback album Purpose with the inspirational title track Spark.
Taeyeon recently beat strong contenders to take home Best Female Solo Star of the Year and Best Trust & Listen Artist of the Year at the 2019 Kpopstarz Awards. She beat IU and Warsaw for the first award while she edged ahead of IU and labelmate Chen for the second award from the Chinese award-giving body, BT reported.
She also brought home the Digital Bonsang at the Golden Disc Awards and the Best Ballad at the Melon Music Awards for the song, Four Seasons. The same track earned her Mnet Asian Music Awards prize for Best Vocal Performance in 2019.
Taeyeon's version of Into the Unknown from the soundtrack of Frozen 2 was also well received by fans all around the world who praised her flawless rendition and her vocal range.
