Fans will be seeing a Supernatural veteran actress in one of the episodes of Grey's Anatomy season 16. This news has been recently confirmed and many were delighted about it. What's more is that one of the series stars will direct the episode as well, making it even more exciting. Here's what we can anticipate in this episode.

It's been confirmed that Supernatural actress Shoshannah Stern is set to guest star in Grey's Anatomy season 16. The actress will be playing the role of Dr. Lauren Riley; someone who's expert in unusual diagnoses. It looks like her service is needed at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital after DeLuca finds himself stuck on a patient.

In this episode of Grey's Anatomy season 16, DeLuca couldn't find a way to cure the patient no matter how hard he tried. The situation prompted them to ask Stern's help as they knew she's an expert in such cases. Dr. Lauren Riley's appearance may also change Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in some ways. Although the doctors are great in what they do, it's still not bad to ask help when needed.

Stern plays Eileen Leahy on Supernatural. The actress also appeared on This Close, Jericho, and Weeds. Stern is set to appear in the February 13 episode of Grey's Anatomy season 16, and it will be directed by series star Jesse Williams. It's nice to see cast members directing an episode, especially since they understand the characters, as well as the story.

Williams isn't an original cast member, but he's been in the series for a long time, so he's familiar with the cast and crew members. Although the actor isn't spending some time later this season, he still has a contract and it looks like he's open to appearing as Jackson despite his Broadway gig. Show executive producer Krista Vernoff also shared how Williams will be featured this season.

Speaking with TVLine, Vernoff said she was able to plan Jackson's storyline since the beginning of the season. She also revealed Williams can fly back one day a week and they're making it work since it's important to him. Even though the actor has a busy schedule, they still managed to work things out and can do a lot within a day.

Over the past years, William was able to balance Grey's Anatomy with his other gigs. For instance, he did a video game Detroit Become Human and a one-episode gig on Power. Still, he managed to do his commitments on the hit ABC drama series. What's good here is that the show allows him to do some other stuff.

Grey's Anatomy season 16 airs every Thursday on ABC.
