Aside from being a duchess, wife, and mother, Kate Middleton is also a sportswoman. She is so into sports that she even beats her husband, Prince William when it comes to playing tennis. In fact, former world No. 1 tennis player, Rod Laver, revealed that the future queen consort is so competitive; she even has lessons to improve her skills.
The mother-of-three is reportedly enrolled at a very exclusive Hurlingham Club. A club regular even revealed that she is "really very good." Kate Middleton reportedly comes down and trains with her personal coach, while her security is looking after her in the background.
Rod Laver told Daily Mail Online that she is fiercely competitive when she plays tennis against the Duke of Cambridge. As he sometimes rubs elbows with Prince William and Kate Middleton in the Royal Box at Wimbledon, he gets the chance to talk them. In their discussion, he was told that they often play tennis against each other, and the second in line to the throne admitted he couldn't beat his wife.
It looks like Kate Middleton doesn't only beat Prince William in tennis but also in a row. Express noted that they rowed against one another when they went to Poland and Germany in 2017.
"No pressure, but I do want to beat my husband," she reportedly told the crew. The royal couple also faced each other in a relay race during a London Marathon training session for their Heads Together charity.
Over the years, they have been taking part in different sports, trying to beat one another. One of their most recent battles was when Prince William showed off his football skills against Kate Middleton at the Windsor Park Stadium in Belfast in February 2019.
However, Prince William managed to beat Kate Middleton at their 2011 tour in Canada, where he brought his team to victory in a dragon boat race. Hopefully, he could win a match with his son, Prince George, too. His eldest born is also reportedly showing great skills and competitiveness when it comes to sports.
Prince George is now having private lessons from Wimbledon champion Roger Federer. He is said to be good at tennis, just like his mother, Kate Middleton. Hence, they are hoping he would continue to show passion for the said sport when he grows older.
"I think I have a little advantage that I actually spent some time, you know, with him," Roger Federer said. As he is the only player that Prince George met so far, he could be his most favorite sporstman. Just like Kate Middleton and Prince William, he is hoping that the little prince will stay the same in a few years.
