The Cupertino first introduced the Apple Watch, a smart wearable, which features health-oriented and fitness tracking capabilities in Mar. 2015. Since then, Apple introduces a new series of smart wearable every year with fans expecting a new one this 2020. Aside from the anticipated performance upgrade, the Apple Watch Series 6 is expected to equip a revolutionary feature to keep up with rivals like Samsung and Fitbit.

Apple Watch Series 6: Sleep Tracking Feature

In 2019, Bloomberg reported that the Apple Watch Series 6 would equip with support for sleep tracking. The site added that the Cupertino tech juggernaut has been testing the said feature and plans to release it in 2020. Apple Watch rivals from Fitbit and Samsung already features this kind of technology.

Releasing an Apple Watch with this kind of capability could allow the Cupertino tech giant to cater to other consumers who prefer a smart wearable with this kind of feature. Apple Watch still dominates the smartwatch segment holding 47.9 percent of the market share in the third quarter of last year. Its rivals Samsung and Fitbit hold 13.4 percent and 11.3 percent, respectively.

Apple Watch Series 6: Digital Crown

TFI Securities Analyst and reliable Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the Apple Watch Series 6 would offer faster performance, particularly in terms of cellular and WiFi aspect. Aside from this, an Apple patent suggests that the Cupertino company might slim down the Digital Crown with an integrated optical sensor. The flat Digital Crown could be introduced as touch-sensitive, could recognize gestures, and could come with one or two biosensors.

Apple Watch Series 6: Operating System

Enthusiasts anticipate that the Apple Watch Series 6 would house the watchOS 7. While there are no rumors or leaks about the watchOS 7 at this time, it is expected to introduce several new features. It could include support for automatic watch face changes.

The Cupertino company has set a precedent of this feature on its other products. It includes iPhone, Mac, and iPad, so there is a chance that it might come to Apple Watch Series 6.

Other Potential Features

The addition of a sleep tracking feature could easily drain the battery of Apple Watch Series 6. It is possible that Apple would increase the capacity of its battery pack on the upcoming smartwatch to support the new feature. It would be nice if the next generation Apple smartwatch could offer a 24-hour cycle for its battery life.

Apple Watch Series 6 is anticipated to unveil on Sept. 2020.
