One of the most anticipated products arriving this year is Sony's next-generation gaming console, PlayStation 5. Over the past months, the PS5 has seen a lot of leaks and rumors revealing its possible specs and feature. The latest leaks show the details of the Solid State Drive (SSD) of the PS5, which Sony and other game developers have been talking about.

PS5 Solid State Drive Details

Sony Interactive Entertainment Lead Architect Mark Cerny last year announced the presence of SSD in the PS5. Other game developers are all praises about this new hardware that Sony's next-generation gaming would feature. A leak, which surfaced a few days ago, claimed that the dev kit used by top game developers are equipped with 1TB SSD.

Fans were quick to assume that the 1TB SSD could be the minimum storage of the PlayStation 5 when it officially releases. Another report earlier claimed that Sony could be working on a potential offering that would equip the PS5 with 2 TB storage. Dutch site LetsGoDigital recently claimed that the PS5 might pack Samsung's 980 QVO models.

The site said that it could be one of the reasons why Samsung deliberately delayed the product's unveiling. The South Korea tech giant actually has a couple of SSD models, the NVMe SSD 980 EVO, and the NVMe SSD 980 QVO. The site found the trademark of Samsung's SSD-related devices with 'Unstoppable Speed' files with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

These devices 'support lightning-fast sequential,' which is indicative that it could be mainly used in gaming devices. The Dutch site that the PS5 might house the more affordable Samsung SSD product to allow Sony to offer the PS5 at the alleged $499 retail price. It is likely that the NVMe SSD 980 EVO Pro could be offered in Sony's mid-cycle refresh, PS4 Pro.

At this point, these are speculations since Sony has not yet revealed any other details about the Solid State Drive of its PlayStation 5. We suggest not to get too excited about these details yet.

PS5 Unveiling

Fans are still speculating on the official unveiling of the PlayStation 5. A Sony's reservation allegedly could be the unveiling event, which is scheduled on Feb. 29, 2020, in New York. Several others are claiming that the unveiling might happen in March. However, a massive PS5 leak claims that Sony would have several events where it would trickle details about the PS5.

According to this leak, it is the Japanese console maker's way of keeping the hype for its next-generation gaming console. Since these are all unconfirmed details, we recommend taking these details with a good measure of salt.
