Following the very public spat between Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel last Saturday, reports emerged that Real Madrid will push through on the plan to lure the PSG forward away from Parc des Princes. If an agreement is finalized for a summer move to Bernabeu, Real will be willing to pay a fee of £250 million.
The record bid will serve to test if PSG will fight hard to keep Mbappe, who is in excellent form in the season. He has already scored 14 goals in 16 appearances and is expected to continue on his sterling performance.
Mbappe has been linked on a possible transfer to the Spanish giants, but the recent clash he had with Tuchel further highlighted that scenario, according to The Daily Mail.
In the winning match by PSG against Montpellier, Tuchel pulled out the Frenchman from the pitch when a win was already assured. However, it was obvious that the decision did not sit well with Mbappe, and he made it known to the team manager while walking off the field.
Per the same report, what was seen revealed "a clear rift and difference in opinion between manager and star striker."
And it seemed obvious that Real is looking to capitalize on the incident. The club is banking on the likelihood that the souring relationship between Mbappe and Tuchel is beyond repair, and that the 21-year-old striker could be convinced to move for a change of setting.
For his part, it appeared that Tuchel has no plans of backing down and suggested that the ugly incident could result in actions that will discipline Mbappe.
"I'm the coach, someone has to decide who goes off and who comes in. It's me. Mbappe is very intelligent, he knows what he is doing. He doesn't like going off," the German boss was reported as saying.
The team manager found an ally in PSG forward Angel Di Maria, who pointed out that Mbappe's frustration during the Saturday match was understandable as "Nobody wanted to go off. Everyone wants to play ... that's normal."
However, Maria said that his teammate has to understand too that there are other players in the club, and they want to have their time on the pitch as well.
"Kylian wants to score, but the manager decided that he was to come off. There are boys on the bench who want to come on and have the ability ... He needs to get that," Bleacher Report quoted the Argentina international as saying.
Mbappe's heated argument with the PSG boss further stirred up the rumors that he will soon exit from Paris and possibly join the Los Blancos come July. Or he can also head to the Premier League in view of speculations that Liverpool would want to have him.
