A string of hopeful events has been ringing hope across Asia and other countries where coronavirus-infected patient numbers are on the rise. Just this week, a Chinese girl in Malaysia recovered from the novel virus.
Malaysia's First Story of Recovery Proves a Point
A Malaysian health official said on Tuesday that the four-year-old girl who recovered after contracting the Wuhan coronavirus will finally be allowed to fly back home, the South China Morning Post reported.
To make sure the girl is free from the virus, detection tests were carried out twice, Health Ministry director general Noor Hisham Abdullah noted, adding that the girl is now "in good health."
Noor Hisham further explained that the girl's recovery suggests the Wuhan coronavirus "is treatable" and there are good chances a patient can recover from the disease.
In Malaysia, there were 10 patients confirmed to have been infected with the new coronavirus that already killed at least 490 people in China. Of the 10 cases, only one is of Malaysian descent.
The country has quarantined 105 Malaysian nationals who were evacuated from the coronavirus strain's origin city, Wuhan. There were 107 evacuees but the two are being treated in a hospital as they showed symptoms of a fever.
Singapore Discharges 35-Year Old Patient
Singapore's National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on Tuesday discharged its seventh confirmed coronavirus case from the facility after he "comprehensively tested negative" of the infection.
According to Channel News Asia, director of medical services at the Singaporean Ministry of Health (MOH) Kenneth Mak noted that the said patient went through three days of testing and all of the results showed that he no longer had the virus.
The other patients are still being monitored closely by medical experts in the city-state, but another confirmed case is being observed for potential discharge. The said patient still needs review to ensure that he is coronavirus-free.
As of Wednesday, the total number of Singaporean cases sits at 24.
Thai Cab Driver Encourages Wuhan Residents To Stay Strong
Over in Thailand, a cab driver who recovered from the novel coronavirus said he is hoping Wuhan will continue to battle and overcome the SARS-like strain.
According to the Straits Times, the cab driver, who is Thailand's first human-to-human transmission case, reported himself at the hospital after feeling very ill and coughing heavily.
The said cab driver's family were observed closely after he was admitted to the hospital but his family members have all tested negative of the 2019-nCoV.

In a statement regarding his release and recovery, the unidentified patient said he is thankful for the public's concern regarding his health and he is looking forward to returning to life as usual, NBC News reported.
As of Tuesday, there are 10 patients still being treated in other American hospitals, while 56 others who have had close contact with the discharged patient are being observed by health experts.
