Princess Beatrice originally planned to have a destination wedding in Italy, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's hometown. Now, reports revealed she changed her mind because of Prince Philip.

According to Daily Express, Princess Beatrice and Edo decided to cancel their plans to marry abroad so that her grandparents would be able to attend. They made the choice following Prince Philip's hospitalization just before Christmas.

Queen Elizabeth also had to cancel a royal engagement in Sandringham in January due to a cold. Considering their health, Princess Beatrice and Edo decided that they should just exchange wedding vows in London so that her beloved grandparents could be witness her big day.

The Queen is also giving Princess Beatrice a special gift for her wedding. Her Majesty offered for the York royal and her fiancé to have their reception in Buckingham Palace. She is the second British royal family member to have the privilege since Prince William and Kate Middleton had their royal wedding in 2011.

Princess Beatrice and Edo are going to have their wedding ceremony at the Chapel Royal in St. James. Based on the size of the venue, it's pretty clear to royal observers that this will be an intimate wedding.

However, there's also a sentimental reason behind this choice as Princess Beatrice was christened at this chapel as a baby. Chapel Royal is also very close to her home.

There's also another reason for the delay in Princess Beatrice's wedding announcement. According to The Sun correspondent, Dan Wooton, the royal was forced to put hold the official reveal two times due to the controversies and scandals in the royal family.

They have been dealing with the fallout of Prince Andrew's interview on BBC last November, when he spoke about his friendship with the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The Duke of York had to resign from his official royal duties due to the backlash from the public. Since then, Princess Beatrice's father has been keeping a low profile from royal events, including her engagement party last December.

The royal family is also divided due to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's exit. Princess Beatrice's cousin decided that they will live in Canada for much of the year; thus, leaving their royal duties behind.

However, reports stated that Queen Elizabeth hopes this royal wedding is going to bring the family together, united than ever before. While Prince Andrew is going to be present to walk his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day, it's still unclear if Prince Harry and Meghan will be coming to London in May for this big event.
