After collecting 59 trophies in local and international award-giving bodies including Best Picture and Best Director Oscars, Best Cast in the Screen Actor Guild awards, accolades from Golden Globe Awards, Independent Spirit Awards and the Palm d'Or from the Cannes Film festival, Parasite is set to embark on the next chapter of its journey with HBO's limited series adaptation.

Director Bong Joon Ho has expressed excitement about the project. So, here are all the things you need to know about the HBO series so far.

  1. Parasite's HBO series will be an expansion of the Parasite film. According to director Bong Joon Ho, the HBO limited series is an expanded film similar to Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander, which also had a three-hour theatrical version. In an interview with Variety, he said his goal was to create a high quality expanded version of hid multi-award-winning film.
  2. Parasite's limited series will explore the relationship between Min Hyuk and Yeon Kyeo. It can be recalled that in the film, Yeon Kyeo (Cho Yeo Jeong) spoke very fondly of Park Seo Joon's character Min Hyuk. She made a telling statement that she and her daughter Da Hye were both satisfied with him no matter what type of grade she got at school. Min Hyuk also spoke fondly of Mrs. Park and said that he liked her. However, director Bong Joon Ho implied that there may be something more, connecting the former English tutor and the rich wife since he admitted that he also had a relationship with the daughter, Koreaboo reported.
  3. The relationship between the housekeeper and the architect. One thing that puzzled Parasite's film audience was the relationship between the original housekeeper and the architect of the Park mansion. They wondered why she alone, knew about the hidden basement and why she came with the house.
  4. What happened to the housekeeper's face? It can be recalled that during the climax of the film, the housekeeper appeared before the Park mansion while the family was out on vacation. When she came to the house, she had scars all over her face, which audiences took down as a result of her allergy to peaches. However, Bong Joon Ho implied that there could be another reason for it.
  5. Bong Joon Ho will be working closely with HBO to develop the series. Parasite director Bong Jon Ho will reportedly work closely with HBO's Adam McKay, whose previous credits included Succession.
  6. Parasite's limited series could be set in Korea. It has not yet been determined whether HBO's limited series will be in Korean or English format. Bong Joon Ho is set to determine the final decision with Adam McKay.
  7. Mark Ruffalo could star in the Parasite series. The buzz is high that Hollywood heavyweight Mark Ruffalo will be tapped to play a role in the Parasite series. he could play the character originally taken by Kang Soon Ho, Tech Radar reported.
