Gone are the days that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be celebrating Valentine's Day while doing their royal duties. Now that they stepped down as senior members of the royal family, they already have the time to celebrate heart's day together. But, before they enjoy this moment with one another, the Duke of Sussex once left his wife to do his duty as a prince.
According to Express, Prince Harry had to leave the Duchess of Sussex at home on Valentine's Day last year when he went to Britain to meet the Royal Marines, who were training in Arctic conditions. To honor his visit, Marines at Bardufoss decorated a makeshift igloo, called a Quincey shelter, with candles and pictures of their royal wedding. His visit marked the 50th anniversary of the Commando Helicopter Office and Joint Helicopter Command.
Meghan Markle might not be delighted celebrating Valentine's Day alone at the time. However, the former actress earlier confessed that she is a "sucker" for this event.
In her now-deleted lifestyle blog, the former Suits star revealed that she is a "sucker for Valentine's Day." "Without fail, every February 14th, I wake up feeling like I'm immersed in a Robert Doisneau photo, waiting with bated breath to be dipped into a kiss," she wrote in 2015. "This is all happening in black and white, of course."
Anyhow, before they got married, Prince Harry brought Meghan Markle to Norway in 2017 to witness the Northern Lights. Royal author Katie Nicholl wrote in the biography Harry: Life, Loss, and Love that the duke vowed to return to the country with someone special when he saw the lights for the first time. He stayed true to his promise and returned with Meghan.
Now that they are no longer senior members of the royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can already celebrate Valentine's Day together. Cosmopolitan noted that this would be the first time that they would be celebrating this special event as husband and wife with no royal duties to do.
However, it is not yet revealed what Prince Harry and Meghan Markle planned for this day. As expected, they might be celebrating the event by keeping a low profile in their new home in Canada. It would also be a nice break for them after they traveled around the United States, meeting with big banks JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs and working on their charity foundation.
