Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle displayed smiling faces in Canada, there were claims that their plan to step down as senior members of the royal might not work as they hoped so. A royal expert claimed that they could end up as another tarnished celebrity couple if their shine ran out.

The Sussexes are now starting their new lives in Canada with their nine-month-old son, Archie, after they made their bombshell announcement last month. Since then, the two were rarely seen in public though they were expected to return to the U.K. for the final stretch of their royal engagements in March. With the axing of their 15 staff members and the upcoming closure of their Buckingham Palace office, it might be a confirmation that they would not return to Britain.

On BBC Radio 4's Today, royal biographer Hugo Vickers revealed their intention to become financially independent and withdraw from their royal lives might not go as planned. "If you're not careful [they'll] end up as sort of slightly tarnished celebrities," he said, via Express. "If you set up an alternative court, it's not going to work. It's very sad, actually."

In his article on Daily Mail, Vickers wrote that there is a possibility that Prince Harry would "lose his allure." By giving up his position, the Duke of Sussex might lose his "allure and appeal," and people might get tired of him and his wife.

Losing these things posed a real threat in the world of celebrity culture. If they can't sustain their fame, they may only end up another "tarnished celebrity couple."

Despite everything that is said about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the royal couple looked "happy and relaxed" when they were spotted arriving in Canada on Valentine's Day. It was the first time that the two were seen together since they announced their decision to step back as senior members of the royal family. It was also the first time that spent the heart's day with one another without doing any royal duties.

People noted that Prince Harry looked casual in his sweater and baseball cap. Meghan Markle, on the other hand, donned a button-down shirt, paired with a cardigan and black jeans.

The two were believed to be from the U.S., where they made an appearance at the recent private JPMorgan event in Miami's South Beach. They also graced the Stanford University in California and, reportedly, met with the professors to talk about their new charitable foundation.
