Conor McGregor proved he is ready to buckle down in the mixed martial arts scene following an impressive win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. It took The Notorious only 40 seconds to get it done, a fantastic showing that unsurprisingly brings up possible rematch possibilities with rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Nothing has been set in stone right now with bad blood continuing to broil between McGregor and Nurmagomedov. Most know how things went awry back in 2018 when The Eagle forced the Irishman to submit in the fourth round at UFC 228. It was a match that simply got out of hand, and nothing has calmed the storm since.

In fact, Nurmagomedov's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, does not see a rematch happening anytime soon. Speaking to ESPN, he says that unless something special occurs, the closest that most will see McGregor and Nurmagomedov fighting again is in the streets.

“The only chance this fight could happen is in the street,” Abdelaziz said. “[McGregor would] have to do something spectacular. He’s s—, you understand?"

Hence, all UFC fans can do for now is speculate on the match and how it will turn out. But in the eyes of WWE champion Becky Lynch, McGregor will return and dominate the Russian in a rematch, TMZ Sports reported.

"You saw it in the last fight. He's got a new game plan, his head is firmly in it and I think he wins it," Lynch said.

Worth noting here is that both Lynch and McGregor are from Ireland. Hence, she admits that there is a bit of bias. But the 33-year-old wrestler sees a different McGregor right now. She points out how The Notorious has rediscovered his dedication, and he is backing it up.

After that forgettable UFC 229 melee, Nurmagomedov returned to the Octagon at UFC 242. He forced Dustin Poirier to a submission in the third round, allowing him to maintain a clean 28-0 record. Up next for The Eagle is Tony Fergusson, a fight that has long been overdue. Both clash at UFC 249 with critics seeing Fergusson as one of the few men who could possibly deal Nurmagomedov his first loss.

Nothing is in the books on the part of McGregor, although he did tease a possible fight with Diego Sanchez. But in a report from Heavy.com, this was seen nothing more of McGregor trolling Sanchez who won his match against Michael Pereira at UFC Fight Night 167 via disqualification.
