Lee Sung Kyung recently opened up about the success of her recent drama Dr. Romantic 2 where she stars opposite Ahn Hyo Seop, San Kyung Kyu, Kim Min Jae, and So Ju Yeon and discussed plans for her future projects.

In an interview for the upcoming edition of Cosmopolitan Korea, the Dr. Romantic 2 star expressed gratitude for the positive reception of her new drama but said that she cannot take all the credit for the steadily rising rating record of the second season of the drama. It can be recalled that Lee Sung Kyung's Instagram post to fulfill a rating promise was well received by fans.

Lee Sung Kyung and Ahn Hyeo Seop who play the role of Dr. Cha Eun Jae and Dr. Seo Woo Jin in the series performed a duet of Your Day from the original OST of the Dr. Romantic 2 soundtrack and made hearts flutter with their vocals and strong chemistry. She said that she is thankful for the cast and crew of the drama for all the hard work that made people eagerly await the new episodes every week, Soompi reported.

While this was not the first time that Lee Sung Kyung played the role of a doctor after she starred in a medical drama Doctors with Park Shin Hye in 2016, she said that the character of Dr. Cha Eun Jae required a different preparation because she had a different personality and background.

"More than anything, I liked that the growth of my character Cha Eun Jae was very evident. Also, acting as a doctor is always fun, enough for me to do it again. In the previous drama, I played a character with a completely different personality, age, and appearance, so my most important homework was the depth of my acting, rather than the transformation of my character," she said.

She credited her senior actors in Dr. Romantic 2 for helping her resolve some of her concerns as an actress and realize the character's direction. Lee Sung Kyung also talked about common misconceptions about her because of her appearance. She said that most people who see her for the first time think that she is unfriendly and she used to feel hurt and misunderstood because of this.

Nowadays, she goes out of her way to approach her co-workers and joke with them so they feel at ease with her and it has become part of her personality. For future projects, she said she wanted to play in a role in a project about people who consider themselves family even without being blood-related.

"After completing a project that lingers, I want to become an actress and person that also lingers. I believe that can come from providing giggles that relieve stress, being relatable and offering comfort, or sharing any kind of message. As an actress, I want to act in a manner that lasts deeply in people's hearts. Although I still have a long way to go, I am genuinely trying, so please give me lots of support," she concluded.
