Super-agent Mino Raiola took to Twitter and blasted Manchester United team manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whom he accused of treating Paul Pogba, a prisoner. It appeared Raiola was reacting to the statement issued by Solskjaer, in which the club boss gave a reminder that Pogba plays for the Red Devils and not an agent.
Prior to the match against Chelsea, which the United won, Solskjaer was asked to comment on the recent tease from Raiola that by the end of the season, Pogba will be out of Old Trafford. The agent even suggested that multiple teams are in pursuit of the World Cup winner, but the likely destination is Juventus.
The Norwegian said he is unaware of any transfer plans that involve Pogba and according to Metro, Solskjaer made clear there was no discussion on the matter with any of Pogba or Raiola.
"Paul is our player and not Mino's. I haven't sat down and told Paul to tell his agent what to say. I've not spoken to Mino," the club boss was reported as saying.
What were said did not sit well with Pogba's agent, who answered Solskjaer's words in social media.
Raiola said: "Paul is not mine and for sure not Solskjaer's property, Paul is Paul Pogba's ... You cannot own a human being already for a long time in the UK or anywhere else. I hope Solskjaer do [sic] not want to suggest that Paul is his prisoner."
The agent then insinuated that instead of getting himself enmeshed on things that do not concern him, Solskjaer would be better served focusing on his shaky situation with United. It would seem that Raiola is rubbing in on the rumors that the United boss could soon be sacked, and Mauricio Pochettino is ready to replace him.
"I think Solskjaer may be frustrated for different reasons and is now mixing up some issues. I think that Solskjaer has other things to worry about. At least if I was him I would," said Raiola.
Following the 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford on Monday, Solskjaer brushed aside the requests on his thoughts regarding the Raiola Twitter rant. The boss said there is no need to give a response to the agent's angry words.
"I don't have to comment about Mino Raiola through the media, I can talk to him myself," BBC quoted the United boss as saying.
Solskjaer added he sees no reason to sit down and talk to Pogba's agent.
Commenting on the matter, former Premier League star Chris Sutton that the spat is something that Pogba can easily resolve. The striker said it is the Frenchman's responsibility to make clear things between him and United.
It would help too if the star midfielder will reiterate that his commitment is with United alone, Sutton said.
