After announcing his plans to get married to his non-celebrity girlfriend in January, EXO's Chen penned another letter to fans to apologize for hurting them.

According to a report by Soompi, Chen wrote the letter to express his sincerity to EXO-Ls who expressed displeasure over his wedding news.In his letter, he apologized to EXO-Ls who had to wait for some while before he addressed the issue.

He said that it took some time because he wanted to reflect and convey his feelings well to fans who have supported him all this time.He said that he felt sorry for EXO-Ls for hurting them with the sudden announcement of his plans to get married. He said that he was regretful that his poor wording caused the fans' disappointment and hurt. He said that he too, was heartbroken after he saw the effect that his news had on his supporters.

Chen explained that even though he was not able to convey his meaning well, he was thankful for fans who loyally supported him.

"I don't know if my feelings will be conveyed well, but I'm sincerely grateful for the love that you've given me and I'm more aware than anyone else that I am who I am now because of that love. I want to apologize again for expressing my apologies to you so late. Also, I will show you how I'm continuing to try hard. Thank you," he concluded.

It can be recalled that when Chen first announced the news that he was getting married to his girlfriend who was also pregnant with his child, EXO-Ls displayed mixed reactions over the issue.

EXO-L ACE, a group of EXO-Ls from Korea, instantly demanded that Chen be removed from EXO because of his irresponsible act. They claimed that Chen's actions would negatively affect the image of EXO as a group.

After posting their demand to SM Entertainment, the group staged a physical protest in front of the SM Entertainment building. Unfortunately, only a handful of people attended the protest, Koreaboo reported.

On the other hand, EXO-Ls from different parts of the world expressed their support for EXO and insisted that even though Korean fans threatened a boycott of EXO if he remained in the group, they will still back up all of EXO's albums and merchandise.Global fans also trended hashtags supporting Chen and all nine members of EXO including Suho, Xiumin, DO, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Chen, Kai, Sehun, and Lay.
