J-Hope went live on VLive on February 17 to celebrate his 26th birthday with ARMYs. While waiting for the clock to strike 12, the BTS star talked with the fans, read and answered their comments, and a lot more.
Before J-Hope even started to interact with ARMYs, he was already playing the song “Smiling When I Die” by Sasha Sloan. So when a fan asked him what are the songs that he enjoys listening to, the 26-year-old rapper, songwriter, dancer, and record producer explained his current playlist.
“I played it earlier. I’m listening to such songs,” J-Hope said. “Calm and… Maybe my current mental state is like that. I don’t know why, but I like calm and relaxing songs a lot lately.”
Throughout the 50-minute live broadcast, J-Hope played eight songs. Sasha Sloan’s “Smiling When I Die” and “Too Sad To Cry,” Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler’s “You Were Good To Me,” Selena Gomez’ “Lose You To Love Me,” Gracie Abrams’ “Stay,” Halsey’s “You Should Be Sad,” Billie Eilish’s “Everything I Wanted,” and of course, as per request by ARMYs, J-Hope played his recent solo “Outro: EGO” as the last song for his broadcast.
Known for being hyper almost all the time, J-Hope was playful with the fans during his birthday broadcast. However, the BTS rapper appeared to be a lot mellow than usual, which made a lot of sense given his explanation about his playlist.
Also, J-Hope turned deep after blowing out his birthday candles, revealing to ARMYs his heartfelt wish. He first explained that most of his birthday wishes are for the people that he loves, like for them to be healthy. This time, however, the BTS rapper’s wish is for himself.
“My goal for this year is not something grand, but to be a precious person to someone,” J-Hope said. “As trivial as it might sound, it’s something amazing. Someone cherishing and adoring me. When there are many of them it’s extraordinary. The other way around, I want to treasure you all.”
ARMYs quickly showed their support for whatever J-Hope wanted in his life right now. Although seeing the BTS star dating someone is hard for fans to accept, they told him that they want nothing more than his happiness.
“Hobi said this year he wanna be precious to someone..... and by ‘someone’ he probably means someone special... yes hobi my baby go get your love... I am gonna support you no matter what.. his happiness equals mine,” one wrote. “I'm all for it, get your person Hobi. We will always love you and support you,” another one shared.
