Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accepted Queen Elizabeth II and senior officials' decision to stop using the word royal in their brand, Sussex Royal. The Sussexes now withdraw their trademark applications and may rebrand with a new name.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's spokeswoman revealed the royal pair would no longer use the name either in the U.K. or in any territory after their transition in spring. "Therefore, the trademark applications that were filed as protective measures, acting on advice from and following the same model for The Royal Foundation, have been removed," she explained, via Express.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle explained the rules surrounding the use of word royal on their official website, Sussex Royal, which might also change its name. "Names of the Royal Family may not be registered in, or as, trademarks without the consent of The Queen or the relevant Member of the Royal Family," it noted.

The names of royal residences can't be registered either. The trademark examines also has to consider if the application made is in bad faith. In addition, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's plan to establish a new non-profit organization, it is also agreed that its name will never be Sussex Royal Foundation, given the U.K. government rules of using the word royal.

According to USA Today, many of the details on the royal couple's website about their transition were made at the royal family meeting in January, which occurred after they dropped their bombshell announcement. Also part of the deal is that their move would undergo a 12-month review.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also cleared that they would not be creating a foundation, but wanted to build a non-profit organization. They aimed to develop a new way to employ change and complement the effort other "excellent foundations" made globally.

This news comes after Queen Elizabeth bans Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from using the word royal in their name. This will take effect after the pair official steps down as senior members of the royal family on March 31.

To recall, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised everyone when they announced their desire to be non-fulltime working royals, be financially independent, and divide their time between the U.K. and North America. Harry said he took a "leap of faith" in an effort to have a more peaceful life - away from the press that followed his every move since he was born.
