Melania Trump is always dressed on point. The camera lenses are always zooming in on every item in her OOTD and it is quite clear that stilettos are synonymous to FLOTUS. But many were stunned when she appeared at the White House lawn recently wearing flat shoes instead of stilettos.
President Donald Trump along with his wife, Melania, departed the White House on Sunday for a two-day visit to India. FLOTUS was seen in a black-and-white ensemble, wearing a black turtleneck and a straight-leg white and black checked trousers. She paired it with a black coat and square-shaped sunnies.
The most notable, however, on her outfit was Roger Vivier's Belle Vivier white flats that she was wearing. The particular design became hugely popular in the '60s after French actress Catherine Deneuve wore a pair in the 1976 movie Belle de Jour.
According to Footwear News, the shoes have a vintage vibe to it because of its buckle accent and square toe. It also has black patent accent leather trims and was made from smooth cream leather in Italy. It has a retail price tag of under $900.
Though Melania is most often seen in her Christian Louboutin or Manolo Blahnik's pumps, this is not the first time the First Lady wore Roger Vivier shoes. In June 2019, she was seen in a black buckled pumps from the same fashion brand at an event in Normandy, France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. She also wore the same pumps during a September 2019 visit to the New York Stock Exchange.
This is the Trumps' first visit to India since the former real estate mogul took office in January 2017. Aside from Donald and Melania Trump, the president's daughter, Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, will also join the US delegation in India.
Aside from joining the president on some events, FLOTUS will also have solo activities in her schedule. According to CNN, Melania will visit a government school in New Delhi.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is reportedly set to give the former model a school tour and orient her of the local government's public education experiment. However, the specifics of the school that Melania will visit hasn't been revealed for security reasons.
There were earlier reports that mother-of-one First Lady has formed a 10-member female staff for her visit to India. The team reportedly underwent special training on how to communicate with Melania and was also ordered to wear trousers and blazers instead of their traditional khaki uniform. The group will also be led by an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.
