For Queen Elizabeth, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's exit from the royal family is not just about their duties to the Crown. Reports say that Her Majesty is taking this personally and the last few weeks has been a hurtful decision for her.

According to insiders who spoke with Vanity Fair, Queen Elizabeth wants Megxit to be done and over with. Her pain is, reportedly, on a personal level that she no longer wants to talk about the issues anymore. What Her Majesty really wants is for the matter to be resolved as soon as possible.

However, Prince Harry and Meghan's official departure from their royal roles has been set for March 31. In the next three weeks, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are going to be in the U.K. for their last rounds of royal engagements.

It is understood that Prince Harry and Meghan will no longer refer to themselves as royals as they begin their new life as private individuals come April. They won't also be asked to represent the Queen at official royal functions but these arrangements will be reviewed after 12 months.

Royal fans, however, think that Prince Harry and Meghan are being disrespectful towards Queen Elizabeth even as they complied with her decision. In a recent statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said that the Queen has no jurisdiction over the use of the word "royal" overseas.

According to royal expert Richard Fitzgerald, Prince Harry and Meghan's latest statement was completely unnecessary. It came off to some royal observers that the Sussexes didn't like the arrangement allegedly forced upon them by the palace.

Other royal experts believe that Queen Elizabeth may feel that Prince Harry and Meghan are just in a phase. Thus, their arrangement will still be re-evaluated after a year. Insiders say that the Queen is still protecting her grandson as the 12-month period is part of a contingency plan, in case they Sussexes decide to return to London in the end.

The Queen might also be looking at this as a period of rehabilitation and recuperation for Prince Harry and Meghan, who have expressed that they cannot stand the royal spotlight and the media scrutiny. Part of the reason they have decided to step back from their royal roles was because of the negative reports in the media, especially about the Duchess of Sussex.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan are going to be reunited with the royal family on March 9 to celebrate Commonwealth Day. The Queen personally asked them to be at the royal affair.
