Police have reportedly concluded the investigation on B.I's drug use case after the singer was found negative for drugs.
In an exclusive report from Sports World, a source from the police investigating team revealed that the former iKON leader has tested negative for illegal drugs.
It can be recalled that after leaving YG Entertainment due to allegations of drug use last year, B.I was placed under investigation by the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency.
During the process, police collected hair samples that were sent to the National Forensic Service to test for the presence of drugs. After his drug tests yielded negative results, police are reportedly wrapping up B.I's drug case. The next step is for the prosecution to send their legal opinion to legal parties for the case to finally close.
It can be recalled that last year, iKON leader B.I or Kim Hanbin was embroiled in controversy when an old Kakao talk conversation between him and a YG idol trainee leaked. The messages showed that B.I was inquiring about how to purchase LSD, All Kpop reported.
With the wave of negative publicity, B.I and YG decided to terminate his exclusive contract with the agency to protect the other members of iKON from the aftermath of the scandal.
B.I was subsequently booked as a suspect for the use of drugs after he reportedly admitted to some drug use in 2016 during 14 hours of questioning from the police.Yang Hyun Suk was also questioned for allegedly covering up B.I's drug use and threatening the witness.
Despite his time away from the spotlight, iKONICs still continued to support B.I and hoped for his comeback as a solo artist.
It can be recalled that when iKON released their comeback album i DECIDE, fans heavily criticized YG Entertainment for removing producer credits from B.I even though the majority of iKON's recent album was written and composed by Hanbin.
Trending the hashtag #YGShameless, fans called out the label for desperately depriving B.I of the credit he deserved for producing the songs in the album before he left the agency.
It seemed though that iKON members have not forgotten their leader even though he was no longer promoting with them.
In the song Flower, written by Donghyuk, HDR, and iHwak, several familiar lines grabbed the fans' attention because it seemed to resonate with the words that B.I himself said in an earlier interview.
The lyrics that said: With flowers like you / following the wind that is you / flowing away / scattering away seemed to be iKON's tribute to their leader who once said: I want to be reborn as the wind in my next life. It's free. It doesn't have to stay in one spot. It goes wherever it wants to go.
