Meghan Markle is dealing with public backlash after she and husband, Prince Harry, decided to step down as senior members of the royal family. A new documentary about the Duchess of Sussex is set to drop next month, but it is already gathering mixed reactions from viewers.

VICE TV is set to release a documentary, titled Meghan Markle Escaping The Crown. It will reportedly explain how the Suits actress struggled since the day she joined the British monarchy.

It would also reportedly reveal how Meghan has been driven out of the royal family. The documentary includes interviews from some royal correspondents, American wives of the British aristocracy as well as Prince William and Prince Harry's former butler.

"As the saga continues with Harry and Meghan's loss of royal branding, the documentary confronts issues of race, prejudice, and obsession in a story that now threatens to upend one of the longest-running institutions in the world," the Meghan Markle Escaping The Crown documentary synopsis reads.

Royal fans, however, have different reactions to the upcoming documentary. Some believe that Meghan's struggles as a member of the royal family don't have to do with her race.

"Megan was brought in to move the monarchy into the 21st century. When she failed to win over the public, she played the victim and race card! She's not likable! Plain and simple," one commented on the teaser.

Meanwhile, the upcoming documentary doesn't seem to include a new interview with Meghan, Harry, or any member of the royal family. In the teaser that VICE TV released on Thursday, the mother-of-one was seen talking about her life as royalty.

However, it was her interview with ITV back in October last year during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's visit to Africa. The other interview clip of Meghan seen in the teaser was her first sit-down interview with BBC News after she and Harry announced their engagement in November 2017.

The trailer opened with Meghan and Harry's royal wedding on May 19, 2018. At the time, many are expecting that the newlyweds would be the catalysts in modernizing the monarchy. Then a voiceover declared, "This was never going to be the fairytale."

The trailer came after the Duke of Sussex announced this week in an event in the U.K. that he would now be referred to as just "Harry." The Sussexes will officially be stripped of their royal titles and will start to work independently on March 31. Meanwhile, the Meghan Markle Escaping The Crown documentary is scheduled for release on March 10 at 9 PM ET/PT.
