Over the past months, several Apple documents point out that the Cupertino company may be working on an Apple Car. So far the only official confirmation we heard from the company is about the Project Titan, which it later said was disassembled despite various indicators that it is still ongoing. A new Apple document reveals that the Cupertino tech juggernaut is looking into developing a shape-altering technology that could offer greater comfort and safety to the driver and passengers.

New Apple Car Patent

There is a chance that the Cupertino company might soon release a future Apple Car with a shape-changing seat. The latest news comes straight from an Apple document filed at the US patent and Trademark Office. US Patent No 10,569,672, otherwise known as 'Adaptive Tensile Surface,' reveals advancement on regular car seat systems.

It is about car seats capable of changing its shape to offer a more comfortable fit. The Apple document states that this technology could also be used not only on vehicle seats but also on office chairs. It mentions that conventional car seats use fabric that worn out after several uses.

Apart from those, the Apple Car patent also talks about several issues with car seat bolsters. For the uninitiated, the seat bolsters are the seats' side parts that keep the user in place and upright, which according to the Apple patent wear over time. Based on the document, it seems that the Cupertino company is planning to inflate the car seat bolsters to let them maintain their shape.

This way, the Apple Car seat could keep you comfortably seated. According to iMore, several premium vehicles are already equipped with active bolsters that move to provide a tighter grip to occupants, especially when the vehicle is doing a hard corner. The site anticipates that Apple 's future tech could do something similar to the seats of Apple Car.

Other Details

The alleged Apple Car patent also suggests the use of rollers that tighten or loosen the fabric to relieve the strain. The rollers could also allow the material to accommodate the movements of the occupants as well as the different seat elements. Interestingly, unlike high-end vehicles that come with heating elements on the car seats, the Apple Car patent suggests a high tech car seat that could integrate fans to blow cool or warm air through the seat's fabric.

While this new car seat system looks promising, it is worth mentioning that these are not official details. Apple has a habit of filing patents, but this does not mean that it would be in the future Apple Car.
