Prince William is the second person in line to the throne. After his father, Prince Charles' reign in the future, he will become the King of the United Kingdom.

But, before his period of reign comes, he will become first the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cornwall. Accordingly, he will be taking over from his father's place and oversee the Duchy of Cornwall when this happens.

In recent months, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been seen to step up in their respective royal duties and responsibilities. This has been one of the key factors why royal experts claim that they are now being prepared for their future roles.

While it is not surprising that preparations are now being put in place, recent reports revealed that further steps had been seemingly taken to prepare Prince William for his next role in the British Monarchy. As reported, he recently met with the Secretary of the Duchy of Cornwall, Alastair Martin.

According to Express UK, the meeting was held in Kensington Palace, where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge currently reside. It was also stated that the event was listed in the Royal Family's "official diary," the Court Circular. With this meeting set in place, several royal analysts and experts concluded that Prince William is now being prepared to "take over" from his father, Prince Charles, as the Duke of Cornwall and Prince of Wales.

In a similar report made by New Idea, it was noted that the Duke of Cambridge is the sole heir to his father's estate, which reportedly amounts to £1 billion. Although previous claims revealed that Prince William has little knowledge of the Duchy of Cornwall unlike Prince Charles, royal experts reportedly stated that it is only fitting that he is now taking actions to learn more about the portfolio, which largely explains the meeting earlier this week.

The Duchy of Cornwall was reportedly "established" by Edward III in the 14th century. It is located across 21 counties, which is mostly found in the south-western part of England. The reports further shared that the portfolio "comprises" of livestock farms, commercial and residential properties, quarries, forests, and rivers.

Cheat Sheet claimed, however, that the details of the meeting Prince William attended with Alastair Martin were not revealed. Even so, discussing the Duchy of Cornwall with the Duke of Cambridge only proves that preparations are not set in place for the future of the British Monarchy.
