On Feb. 6, 1952, Queen Elizabeth II had assumed the role of the Queen of England at the age of 26. Since then, she has been ruling the United Kingdom and has become the longest-reigning Queen in the history of the British Monarchy.

As of today, she has already reigned for 68 years and will turn 94 in April. Because of this, many are wondering whether she will soon abdicate or retire to pass on the throne to the Heir Apparent, Prince Charles.

While there have been speculations already, several reports attested that Queen Elizabeth II will not step down as the Queen of the British Monarchy.

According to Cheat Sheet, royal experts and commentators agree are certain that the Queen will remain a "figurehead" as long as possible. It was noted by Angela Mollard in one of the Royals podcast episodes that she has already started to pass on some duties and responsibilities to her direct descendants, Prince Charles and Prince William.

Although this is one of the factors why many individuals think that she might soon abdicate, the royal experts contended that this dynamic might continue as long as the work can be done by others. It was further supplemented that no one in British history has ever done it, "abdication due to age."

In a similar report by Reader's Digest, this was also explained by the narrative. As added, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly told the public that she will reign "for life." It was revealed that this statement was given during her 21st birthday.

Aside from these things, the publication also attested that the public does not want her to abdicate. In relation to this claim, several experts claimed that while the Queen has been largely favored by the British people, this does not necessarily mean that they are in favor to continue the monarchy.

The publication then went on to point out Prince Charles' side why Queen Elizabeth II may not retire anytime soon. It was noted as well that many individuals do not entirely support the Heir Apparent's claim as the next King of England.

Alongside the fact that he is already 70-years-old, the controversies that plagued him from previous years are still etched on the memories of the general public. Therefore, a resistance may rise once he assumed the throne before Queen Elizabeth II's last breath.

On another note, the same report shared that once the Queen passes away, the Heir Apparent will be crowned after a few months. Nevertheless, he will "automatically" become the King of England when this happens.
