Kaley Cuoco is hitting back at her haters for accusing her of nepotism. After her sister Briana Cuoco was cast in the upcoming HBO series The Flight Attendant, Kaley apparently learned that some fans thought her sister was included on her new show because of her.
The Big Bang Theory star co-created The Flight Attendant with executive producer Greg Berlanti. Briana's casting was confirmed in December, where she'll play an ambitious assistant named Cecilia.
Kaley and Briana are currently in New York as filming has started for The Flight Attendant. So, they sat down together to finally clear the air on Kaley's Cup of Cuoco Instagram vlog.
As the big sister, Kaley said that it's the first time they'll speak about the "hate" Bri's casting generated. Kaley defended that Briana earned the role and auditioned for it without her backing.
For her part, Briana said that there's always a misconception that she lands jobs in Hollywood because of Kaley, who earned global fame for starring in The Big Bang Theory for 12 years. Kaley also pointed out that Briana bagged a role on the DC Universe's Harley Quinn animation as the voice of Batgirl.
The Flight Attendant is a dark comedy and thriller based on a New York Times best-selling novel written by Chris Bohjalian. Kaley leads the cast as the flight attendant Cassandra Bowden, who wakes up with a hangover in Dubai and a dead body next to her. She returns to New York where the FBI starts questioning her about her trip to Dubai.
The series also stars Sonoya Mizuno as Miranda, Michiel Huisman as Alex, Rosie Perez as Megan, Zosia Mamet as Annie, T. R. Knight as Davey Bowden, and Bebe Neuwirth as Diana Carlisle. Briana said that since work started on the set, her character has actually gone through three different variations, including costume changes.
Kaley optioned the rights to The Flight Attendant in 2017 through her company, Yes, Norman Productions. In July 2019, HBO announced that it will be part of their streaming service HBO Max with Greg Berlanti also on board.
Meanwhile, Kaley and husband Karl Cook finally bought their first home together in Hidden Hills, California. The couple, who have been married for two years, were actually not living in the same house before purchasing this property in the guard-gated enclave filled with celebrity homes.
Kaley and Karl's new house has plenty of facilities for horses. Karl works as a professional equestrian.
