The El Clasico last Sunday saw Cristiano Ronaldo in the game, not as a player but a spectator and supporter for Real Madrid. His attendance paid off because the Portuguese witnessed the Los Blancos prevailing over Barcelona. And rumors came out that Ronaldo might just play in a Clasico match in the near future.
That could happen if the reports coming from Italy proved correct. Currently, with Juventus, it is said that the 35-year-old will want to play for Santiago Bernabeu again and perhaps retire wearing the same jersey that won Champions League titles.
According to One Football, the desire is still there for the Juve star to play for Real Madrid.
The claim was made by journalist Edu Aguirre, who said that Ronaldo's return to Madrid during the Clasico game between Real and Barcelona brought him excitement. And there might be a chance he'll return to the capital before the end of his career, said the Spanish reporter, also identified as a close pal to the football superstar.
"I know for sure that Cristiano has a desire to return to Real Madrid. He felt the affection of Madrid when he came to the Bernabéu, he was excited," Aguirre was reported as saying.
Judging on the emotion let out by the Portuguese during the 2-0 win by Real Madrid, it's not hard to imagine that Ronaldo still cherishes the good nine years he played with the football club, according to Give Me Sport.
It has been a while since Ronaldo was in Madrid, but the joy he felt when Vinicius Jr. scored what's inside of his heart. The report said that while Ronaldo is certainly focused on playing for the Turin giants and winning honors for the club, a part of him was left in Spain.
In 2018 and just after the third Champions League title was won by Real, Ronaldo shocked the world by making a switch to Juventus. It was a deal worth £99.2 million, but the five-time Ballon d'Or winner insisted his departure was due to a souring relationship with Florentino Perez, Real Madrid's president.
In a recent interview, Ronaldo revealed that his departure from the Spanish giants was triggered by the feeling that the club no longer wanted him as they used to.
"I felt it inside the club, especially from the president, that they no longer considered me the same way that they did in the start ... The president looked at me through eyes that didn't want to say the same thing, as if I was no longer indispensable to them," Ronaldo was reported as saying.
If Ronaldo indeed makes a bid to play for Real again, football fans can look forward to seeing a few more El Clasico matches that will feature the blockbuster Messi-Ronaldo rivalry.
