A friend of Prince Harry says that the Duke of Sussex may be feeling quite emotional as his last few days of royal engagements wind down. The 35-year-old prince and his wife Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, are officially giving up their royal roles at the end of March.

It's an emotional time for Prince Harry, according to the friend, since he is walking away from his own family. The friend added that doing something like this is very hard for someone who has been loving and loyal to his kin.

The friend, however, intimated that Prince Harry has always wanted a regular life without the media spotlight. So, he's pursuing a lifelong aspiration, even if that means walking away from everything he has gotten used to since birth.

A former bodyguard of Princess Diana believes that it would be what Prince Harry's mother would want for his son as well. Ken Wharf said that he applauds the duke's decision for his family as it echoes what his mother has told him before, which is to make his own way as a grown up.

Wharf also recalled that Princess Diana longed the same thing as Prince Harry. The Princess of Wales used to say that she wishes her life was normal and that she could do normal things.

This doesn't mean, however, that Prince Harry is not sad to let go of his royal status. Despite wishing a different life, the Duke of Sussex is still proud to be part of the royal family and has great respect for his grandmother Queen Elizabeth.

Last Sunday, March 1, Prince Harry and the Queen apparently shared a heart-to-heart lunch in Windsor that took over four hours to finish. According to Harper's Bazaar, the lunch was a casual get-together between a grandmother and a grandson that was miles different from their January meeting.

The Sun reported that Queen Elizabeth told Prince Harry he and Meghan can return to the fold if they change their minds as they are always welcome. Sources said that the lunch hopefully cleared the air amid reports that the Queen was upset with Prince Harry and Meghan.

Royal experts said that Queen Elizabeth specifically planned for Prince Harry and Meghan's new arrangement to be reviewed after 12 months because the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might reconsider their position within this period. The lunch allowed the grandmother and the grandson to speak freely and discuss Prince Harry's future.
