The Good Doctor season 3 episode 18 is scheduled to air next week on ABC, with the title "Heartbreak." The title alone suggests it would be an emotional episode for Dr. Shaun Murphy as he's still dealing with his recent heartbreak. Things aren't easy for him now and he's having a hard time focusing on his job, which could make a huge impact on his future.
In the promo of The Good Doctor season 3 episode 18, it's apparent that Shaun is facing some troubles right now and couldn't control his emotions due to his recent heartbreak. A lot of people support him and tell him that any person of his age has already experienced heartbreak. However, it seems like he does not want to do anything and planning to ditch his work as well.
The clip then shows Dr. Melendez confronting Shaun. He warned him that if he skips work, then there could be some serious professional consequences. What Shaun needs to do now is to help himself and divert his attention so he could at least forget Lea. He thinks that Lea rejected him again because of his condition, which is really heartbreaking for him.
Shaun's love life is also one of the biggest storylines this season. He's trying to understand what it would be like to have a relationship, so he asked Carly out. However, the two eventually broke up as Carly recognized that Shaun has deeper feelings for Lea. But then, Lea didn't fully reciprocate his feelings. Although she does love him, it might just be a platonic love.
Speaking to TVLine, Paige Spara, who portrays Lea, said her character loves Shaun and she does have a bond with him. But, she explained that Lea can't be selfish and can't just say "I love you. Let's give this a shot." A lot of outside factors affect her decision to walk away, and Spara noted her character was overwhelmed and confused with everything.
Meanwhile, some of the preview photos of The Good Doctor season 3 episode 18 feature Shaun in a few scenes. For instance, he was seen with Claire and it seems like the two were having a serious conversation. In other photos, Morgan was seen treating an armless patient, while some of the images show Claire and Neil talking about something important.
The Good Doctor season 3 episode 18 arrives on Monday night, Mar. 9, on ABC.
