Christian Pulisic will not return to action for at least two more weeks, basing on the latest update provided by Chelsea team manager Frank Lampard. The U.S. international had an impressive run in the last months of 2019 but suffered a groin injury at the start of 2020.

The last time the 21-year-old played was against Brighton in New Year's day and Lampard said the winger is not expected to return for two more weeks. Pulisic again skipped the Blues match against Liverpool this week, which thankfully Lampard's side has won.

Originally, the American was ready to play in mid-February but as Lampard reported, Pulisic tried to step up on his recovery in the last week of January but the extra effort resulted in a setback. Now that March has started, it is not expected that Pulisic will play football in the next two weeks, NBC Sports reported.

The report added that while Pulisic's absence will not extend for another month, it is unlikely that he will be back real soon if only to ensure that no aggravation will mar the rehabilitation effort.

"This type of adductor or hip injury is tough to call as things can go wrong on each and every step of the recovery process," the report explained.

It is clear though that Lampard will need Pulisic and all the other injured Chelsea players to return to top form at the soonest as the Premier League club has been struggling lately and won only five of the last 16 games.

The Blues are still in the Top 4 but rival teams are fast catching up. For instance, Manchester United is tipped to overtake Chelsea if the Red Devils will continue on their winning run lately while Lampard's side is seen likely to falter.

Metro said injury woes are really bothering Chelsea and the latest to join Pulisic on the sidelines is Tammy Abraham. Lampard admitted that these health issues plaguing the club are frustrating, especially in the case of Pulisic, who the boss said is dying to play again.

"It's certainly frustrating for them, particularly Christian has had a big phase out now and is desperate to get back," Lampard was reported as saying.

He reiterated that bringing the hurting players back to action is hard to tell at the moment.

"I'm hoping when I'm not giving an answer [as to when they will return] it's not like I'm looking into the distance and can't see the answer, I'm hoping that they might be fit over the next week or two," said the Chelsea boss.

What is clear at the moment is "we still have no Tammy Abraham, no Christian Pulisic, no Callum Hudson-Odoi, no N'Golo Kante," Lampard said.
