AJ and the Queen is a comedy-drama series on Netflix, debuted in January 2020. The show stars RuPaul Charles, who plays the role of Robert Lincoln Lee a.k.a. Ruby Red. Now, it seems like the freshman series is not coming back for more as the streaming giant officially canceled it after just one season.

In a recent Twitter post, RuPaul confirmed that AJ and the Queen is not coming back for another season. He wrote that Netflix decided not to extend the trip across America, and then thanked fans for the love and support. He ended his post by saying, "We're so very proud of the work," and mentioned the people involved in the series.

Netflix hasn't disclosed the reason why it canceled AJ and the Queen, but one of the reasons is probably about the show's ratings. CarterMatt noted the streaming platform would pick up a lot of series and will cancel the ones that don't meet their immediate expectations.

Still, some canceled shows from Netflix tend to continue on another platform. But while some were hoping the series will continue elsewhere, it seems like that may not happen at all as RuPaul's message suggest they already reached the end of the road.

AJ and the Queen follows RuPaul's character Robert Lincoln Lee a.k.a. Ruby Red. He dreams of opening his own drag club but ruined because of his con-artist boyfriend (Josh Segarra). Wanting to leave the drama behind him, he went on a road trip for a cross-country drag tour.

But, Robert didn't know that a scrappy ten-year-old kid named AJ (Izzy G.) had stowed away in the back of his RV. Eventually, the two developed an unlikely father-daughter relationship. They try to stop the murderous efforts of Robert's ex and Lorraine Bracco impersonator named Lady Danger.

AJ and the Queen was co-created by RuPaul and Sex and the City /2 Broke Girls Michael Patrick King. In addition, King's MPK Productions produced in association with Warner Bros. TV. The series not only celebrates drag, but it also shows the uniqueness of family dynamics. Ruby's message of love and acceptance to people also touch and change people's lives.

The comedy-drama series also stars Michael-Leon Wooley as Louis Bell/Cocoa Butter, Tia Carrere as Leilani Kala'i/Lady Danger, and Katerina Tannenbaum as Brianna Douglas/ AJ's mother. The show also featured appearances former RuPaul's Drag Race contestants, including Manila Luzon, Mayhem Miller, Alexis Mateo, Valentina, Bianca Del Rio, Eureka O'Hara, Kennedy Davenport, and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo.
