This Is Us season 4 episode 16 is coming this week on NBC, with the title "New York, New York, New York." This episode will see the Pearson family going to the Big Apple, with Rebecca and Kevin attending a premiere night event.
In the sneak peek of This Is Us season 4 episode 16, Rebecca can be seen with Kevin while preparing for Kevin's premiere night. He is doing everything he can to get his mother ready and bought her a dress. Rebecca is also excited to be part of the event, especially since she'll walk to the red carpet with her son.
While it isn't something that she previously wanted, she now knows the importance of such events. Rebecca recognized that she has to embrace every opportunity given to her, especially in times like this. This will be an interesting storyline and it doesn't appear as though there's wrong in the premiere night.
However, it seems like This Is Us season 4 episode 16 may also address why Kevin and Randall weren't on talking terms in the flashback scene. It may have something to do with Kevin bring Rebecca to the premiere night, which leads to Randall being jealous.
In another clip of the next episode featured Randall and Kevin seemingly arguing, with the latter saying he knows what's good for their mother. In addition, the tagline of the promo is "a rivalry between sons," hinting that jealousy might be one of the reasons why they drifted apart.
Randall has been taking care of Rebecca for many years, so he probably feels jealous now that his mother is spending time with someone else. Randall is also Rebecca's favorite son, but he's losing his grip now due to therapy, pressure, and anxiety.
Meanwhile, Kevin is doing everything he can to make their mother happy. His bond with Rebecca is growing, while Randall is shocked by Kevin's changed attitude. There is a possibility that what happened in this episode caused a huge and twisted consequence in the future.
Based on the flash-forward scenes, Kevin and Randall weren't on good terms as the two were seen not talking to each other. Until now, the reason for their apparent feud is still unknown, but it may now probably be answered in the upcoming episode.
