Though prices depend on the brand, beauty products and tools like brushes, lipsticks, eyeliners, lip glosses, primers, concealers, highlighters, eyeshadows, and mascaras can cost a lot. But did you know that no matter how much they are, women are still willing to spend a lot of money just for it alone?

According to statistics posted by The Loop, the Skin Store, a US company, found how women nowadays are getting so fond of improving their looks and beauty. In the survey they conducted, it was estimated how they were willing to spend about $300,000 just for their makeup alone in their lifetime.

Because of the cost, it is indeed a must to store these products and tools in the right environment for it to have a long and well-protected life against different bacteria, which can be harmful not just to your skin but also to your health. So, what are the right ways to store our beauty tools and products?

SPONGES

Sponges are one of the most important beauty tools used by makeup lovers. But unfortunately, it can also be a haven of different bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, as exposed by Medical News Today. These bacteria and other molds can cause "infections, breakouts, irritation, clogged pores and be less effective at applying makeup", as explained by Dr. Papri Sarkar, a board-certified dermatologist.

Due to this truth, it is a must to store this little baby properly and clean it as often as possible. The best thing to keep them is in a dry but cool place.

HAIR BRUSHES

Aside from your sponges, hair brushes can also be prone to dirt and bacteria. Why? "Hair is amazingly good at holding onto organisms and product and you don't want that getting back on freshly washed hair", said Sarkar.

So, make sure to clean your brushes every day. Keep them somewhere cool and dry too, especially those electric ones as keeping them in moist and wet places can be dangerous.

SERUMS

Considered as one of the most costly beauty products in the market, serums are also the most prone to expiration and degradation. The reason behind is the sensitive elements and ingredients that were added to this product to make it more effective in improving one's skin.

To lengthen the life of your serum and its effectiveness, store it somewhere cold, but not too much, like your fridge. Make sure it is well capped too as you don't want bacteria to linger in your favorite product.
