Kate Middleton has a good relationship with her father-in-law, Prince Charles. Before she joins the royal family, the Prince of Wales already showed that he is accepting her in the royal family by inviting her in an event without her then-boyfriend, Prince William.
In an unearthed report, the Duke of Cornwall invited his then-future daughter-in-law to the final day of the Cheltenham Festival, the Gold Cup, in 2006. At the time, the Duke of Cambridge was taking the rigors of military training at Sandhurst.
However, Kate Middleton was escorted by his best friend, Thomas van Straubenzee, at the event. In a report by Hello! Magazine, via Express, Prince Charles saw the Duchess of Cambridge's potential to be the future queen during that moment.
Her arrival at the racing event was said to be a very significant one, although she wasn't with Prince William. She was 24 years old then, but she managed to get everyone's attention. She wasn't part of the royal family yet, and a lot of people predicted that she would soon be.
Kate Middleton suddenly became the star of the show when she joined Prince Charles in the royal box. As she was there upon the invitation of Prince William's father, it just showed that she was welcomed by the future king, accepting her in the royal family.
The future queen consort has been with the royal family since she started dating Prince William. They dated for eight years and got engaged in 2010. After a year, the two got married. They now share three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

She used to be close to Prince Harry before the royal exit began. She is also close to their cousins, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
However, her bond with Prince Charles seems to be so seamless. When she got engaged to his son, he said that he was "thrilled and delighted" about the news. Kate Middleton also revealed that he was "very, very welcoming and very friendly" to her.
