Mikel Arteta of the Arsenal FC Gunners was one of the unfortunate people who tested positive for the coronavirus last week but is reportedly feeling better. According to his wife, Lorena Bernal, her husband would have worked on despite not feeling ill. But as most know, the coronavirus is quite deadly and people infected with it needed the proper attention and rest.

It was on Mar. 12 when the club announced that Arteta tested positive for COVID-19. And apparently, others were infected as well. Arsenal took the necessary measures to protect those who got into close contact with the Gunners coach.

"Arsenal personnel who had recent close contact with Mikel will now self-isolate in line with Government health guidelines. We expect this to be a significant number of people from Colney, including the full first-team squad and coaching staff, as well as a smaller number of people from our Hale End Academy which we have also temporarily closed as a precaution."

Arteta's wife gave an update recently via Instagram, thanking everyone who sent good vibes to them. She also said that her husband is now feeling better and confirmed that Mikel had the virus. Further, Lorena also added that her husband would have continued to work even if he was not feeling well, taking medicines just to report for work.

"My husband is feeling fine, he is well. It's true that he had symptoms of the virus but the symptoms would have never stopped him from going to work in a normal situation," Bernal said. "He would have just taken an ibuprofen or paracetamol and he would have gone to work so really, it's nothing major."

Like most major sporting leagues, football has been suspended worldwide. Competitions that include the Champions League, Europa League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 are temporarily put on hold as measures are being taken to fight the coronavirus.

It appears Arsenal had plans to call on people who were not in contact with Arteta to resume work. Unfortunately, the pandemic has been worsening - meaning it may not be a good idea. Arsenal plans to consult several institutions such as the Public Health of England on the matter. Among the steps they have taken include a deep clean of club facilities that include the London Colney training base. The Premier League already announced that the season would be postponed until Apr. 3 although that could be moved as well.
