Actor Idris Elba has announced that he tested positive of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), making him the third Hollywood actor to contract the disease. Elba assured fans that he was doing alright.
According to a report by CNN, the Luther actor got tested after he was exposed to someone who tested positive for the virus."This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I'm doing. No panic," he posted on his social media account.
Elba has been in isolation since last Friday as a precautionary measure while he awaited the results of his test.In a video shared with the fans, Idris Elba, who also appeared on blockbuster franchises like Marvel's Thor, Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw, and Pacific Rim, called for solidarity as the world faced the global health pandemic head-on. He said that instead of sowing division, this is the time that people should be thinking of one another.
In the video, Elba's wife Sabrina Dhowre appeared beside him. The actor said that his wife has not been tested but she was doing ok.
Last week, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were the first Hollywood celebrities to announce that they have tested positive of COVID-19.
Hanks and his wife were in Australia for the pre-production of Baz Luhrman's yet-untitled Elvis Presley movie when they first experienced signs of illness.
According to Tom's Instagram post, he and his wife experienced tiredness, chills, and flu, prompting them to seek medical attention. They were later tested positive of the Novel Coronavirus.
With an optimistic tone, Tom asked fans not to worry and to take care of their health and safety. He said she and Rita were following strict orders from the doctor and are taking it one day at a time. He also assured that he would keep their supporter posted on any development.
After being treated in a Queensland Hospital, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have reportedly been released from confinement and are now in self-quarantine at home.
