Prince Charles is reportedly upset that Camilla Parker Bowles will never be the Queen when he becomes the King. The Duchess of Cornwall will be titled the Princess Consort and not the prestigious title that his husband wants her to have.
In an interview with Express, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams revealed that the public might oppose the decision to make Camilla Queen, as the royal family has to stabilize the monarchy after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal exit. "I think this is a practical response to polls which show her as personally popular," he said.
It cannot be denied that people appreciate Camilla's charitable work, especially the ones who suffer from domestic abuse and osteoporosis. She and the Prince of Wales are so happy together in their 15 years of marriage. However, a vast majority remains skeptical about giving her the title of a Queen.
With this, Prince Charles may be disappointed with the title his wife is about to receive. By the looks of it, the royal family doesn't want to upset the public with all the controversies it has been through. Hence, it needs to establish a good image once again to reconnect with the people while having a positive press.
The royal family has been in a rough time for the past few months after Prince Andrew received backlash for his connection with the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's departure. This news comes after Clarence House confirmed that Camilla would be titled Queen Consort upon her husband's accession to the throne.
In a statement, the residence revealed that the intention is to make Camilla known as Princess Consort when Prince Charles inherits the throne. This title was already announced at the time of their marriage, and there would be no changes to take place at all. Despite the Duke of Cornwall's desire to name Camilla as her Queen, it may only result in a public backlash.
According to Cheat Sheet, the royal couple has been in love with each other since the 1970s, but they parted ways and married different people - Prince Charles to Princess Diana and Camilla to Andrew Parker Bowles. The two then started seeing each other in secret after both of their marriages failed and eventually tied the knot in 2005.
They had a low-key wedding, held inside Windsor Guildhall. Since then, Camilla has been working hard to gain Queen Elizabeth and the public's trust.
