Huawei's P40 series was featured in a recent video teaser online, marking the company's third flagship launch since the US slapped the Chinese tech behemoth with an export ban in May last year. While spectators are still waiting for official announcements, many are already expecting a trio of new smartphones: the Huawei P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Premium.
It's quite difficult to imagine how an Android phone would work without Google apps, particularly those living outside of China, but as far as the company is concerned, nothing can stop its efforts in pushing for the impossible.
According to leaks, the P40 Pro will have five sensors on the back encased in a rectangular camera module. There's a huge possibility a 10x optical zoom camera could be included in one of those sensors as well. If this comes out true, it will make the device the world's first phone to be equipped with such a feature. The Mate 30 Pro was extremely popular for having a 5x optical zoom and a 50x digital zoom -- imagine the fame the P40 Pro would achieve with that kind of optical zoom capability.
As for the front of the P40 Pro, it's said there would be two selfie cameras enclosed in a horizontal cutout shaped like a pill on the screen's left side, that is according to leaked renders. If these rumors are correct, the Huawei P40 Pro will have a total of seven cameras all in all.
It's a given that Huawei's next flagship smartphones will support 5G, as opposed to what happened to 2019's vanilla P30 model that lacked the next-gen network support. It's been listed at the Chinese regulatory body for mobile tech (which is called TENAA) that two devices believed to be the P40, and P40 Pro will be 5G capable. There were some hiccups with 5G last year, but as with most technological innovations, improvements should come soon, particularly this year, wherein coverage will be expanded into new areas.
While most tech events have been canceled, including the Mobile World Congress, Huawei is not going to let anything stop it from pursuing its plans this year. The COVID-19 pandemic has entirely changed daily operations across the globe, but the Chinese telecom giant will still unveil its latest generation of flagship phones, the Huawei P40 series.
Huawei's P40 launch will be held via a virtual event on March 26th with an expected release date sometime after.
