Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's rift with Prince William and Kate Middleton has been making headlines for nearly two years. A new report recently emerged that the Sussex pair offended the Cambridge couple because they chose to name their son Archie.

According to Daily Express, Prince Harry and Meghan allegedly crossed Prince William and Kate when they announced that their first-born baby would be called Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Apparently, Prince George used to refer to himself as Archie long before the birth of his cousin.

A story from The Sun revealed that a local passer-by was able to have a slight interaction with Prince George when he visited a public park with his grandmother, Carole Middleton. The local was told by the protection officer not to take photos of the Cambridge kids but Prince George went up to her because the third in line to throne wanted to stroke her dog.

The local said that she engaged Prince George in a small talk and asked for his name. To the lady's surprise, Prince George apparently said that he is called Archie and laughed.

Archie is one of the many nicknames for Prince George. In school, they usually refer to the son of the future king as PG. Among the royal family, the six-year-old is endeared with the nickname Georgie. Prince William and Kate also call their son their "little grape."

Daily Express speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan didn't consider Prince William and Kate, or even Prince George, when they picked out the name for their son. Sources said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex went with Archie deliberately because it did not have any royal connotations, compared to the name of Prince William and Kate's children.

Prince George's full name is George Alexander Louis. He uses Cambridge as his family name in his school documents.

Meanwhile, royal experts are feeling sorry Archie since he won't have a buddy relationship with his cousin Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Angela Mollard said in podcast show that Archie will not be growing up with his cousins because his parents have chosen to live in Canada.

Mollard said that it seems it's not important for Meghan to have her son bond with his cousins. The royal expert said that as an only child, Meghan does not have any experience with siblings. She added that it's sad to think Archie will not have a friendship with Louis, who is close to his age.
