Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will officially step down as senior members of the British Royal Family at the end of the month. Aside from their desires to become "financially independent," it was said that this move of theirs is an "attempt" to lead a normal life outside the British Monarchy. However, recent claims suggest that Queen Elizabeth II might have "laid" the foundations of such "move" in the past.

According to Express UK, several royal experts and watchers seemingly compared the Sussex couple's decision to King Edward VII's abdication in 1936. Although many would agree, a more fitting conclusion came after, especially when royal experts started to tackle again the controversial 1969 documentary, Royal Family.

The 50-year-old BBC documentary has remained a very popular material. It mainly features the day-to-day living of the Royal Family back in the late 60s, which was a huge shock to the world as this was the first time that they were seen as "celebrities."

It was said that Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were the ones who initially hired PRs. They were the ones who started to "open the doors" for the royals to be perceived as celebrities, royal expert, Simon Jenkins shared.

He then claimed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have fallen "victims" to this, which has now resulted in their decision to live a more private life outside the United Kingdom. While Queen Elizabeth II and her Consort may have likely chosen to be "more open" and "reachable" to the outside world for the sake of the British Monarchy several decades ago, it seemingly appears that they all "suffered" after.

As per Town and Country magazine, the shooting for the 1969 documentary started on June 8, 1968. Although it almost took a year before the material was released on national television, the total number of days of shooting was 75 in 172 different countries.

The Royal Family was a huge success despite the apparent criticisms that they all obtained from various sectors of society. However, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly banned the material after the fifth replay on television. Since then, no one has seen the documentary again, except for the short clip that was played during an exhibit in London, in 2011.

The entirety of the documentary has not been seen since. But, the effects and impacts on both the public and the Royal Family have remained as per experts, which seemingly became the base of Megxit's emergence.
