WARNING: This article may have some spoilers for Chicago Fire season 8. Read at your own risk.

Chicago Fire season 8 may continue following Sylvie Brett's story, especially now that she's currently going through something devastating. She lost her biological mother in the past episode, which is painful for her since she was just starting to get to know her.

Moving forward in Chicago Fire season 8, Brett will go through a grieving process and it would lead to questions as to who will be there for her. Surprisingly, one of them will be Matthew Casey and things may likely go on a different direction between them.

In a recent post via Twitter, show executive producer Derek Haas confirmed that Casey will be there for Brett while she's dealing with a devastating moment of her life. Haas also referred to Casey as a "sympathetic ear" and will probably help Brett coping with her sadness.

But although this could lead the two being romantically involved at some point, there is no indication that would happen anytime soon. Since Brett is still grieving with the death of her biological mother, it may not be the best thing for her to be in a relationship.

What's important right now is that Brett needs to deal with her sense of loss first, while Casey will show her that he's there for her. This could be a way for them to get closer together, which could set something more for them in the future.

As for what else we can expect in Chicago Fire season 8, the next episode will bring interesting stories, such as tensions at the firehouse. In the synopsis of episode 19, tension builds out when a group of rabble-rousers attempted to lockdown the firehouse.

The episode will also see Cruz preparing for his wedding. As for Ritter and Gallo, they will be launching a social media page for the Firehouse 51. This episode, however, will not be airing this week but the following week instead: Wednesday night, Apr. 8, on NBC.

Meanwhile, the final written episodes of Chicago Fire season 8 won't be airing this spring. The series halted its production due to the current health crisis happening in the world. Some of the stories in these episodes may somehow be incorporated in season 9, though some things remain uncertain as of yet.

Good thing is that viewers shouldn't be worried about the future of Chicago Fire, as NBC already renewed all One Chicago for three more seasons. Hence, the series will continue to bring interesting stories in the future.
