Is Will Yun Lee's Dr. Alex Park is leaving The Good Doctor after the season 3 finale? It seems like the character's fate is being overlooked due to everything that happened and there's a possibility he's leaving the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital at some point.

The season 3 finale of The Good Doctor teased that Dr. Park is planning to leave the hospital. In the episode, he sat with a young patient at the site of the brewery collapse. The tragic incident severely injured the teenager's eyes.

The patient's inability to connect with his father before his death left Dr. Park shaken. So, he called Mia and Kellan and told them he wanted to move back to Arizona. The phone call hinted that he's interested moving closer to his family; something that's been on his mind for a while.

It only makes sense he now wants to go in this direction after what happened. He is likely scared to be away from his family, that's why he wanted to move closer to them now. But, the good news is that Dr. Park is just moving elsewhere and not departing from The Good Doctor.

In a report via TVLine, showrunner David Shore discusses this matter and talked about the potential move of Dr. Park in the future of the series. He made it clear that they aren't planning on losing the character from the show.

But then, he explained that the doctor's challenge now is how he deals with his commitments to work and commitments to his personal life. Shore said that this is a challenge most people face, which is more dramatic when saving lives while also being a thousand miles away from your family.

This is a challenge Dr. Park will face in the future of The Good Doctor. When the new season arrives, we'll probably see the character contemplating his future. It's a hard decision for him: choosing between his professional and personal life.

Meanwhile, the shocking twist in the season 3 finale was when Dr. Neil Melendez tragically killed. The doctor died after succumbing to internal injuries sustained in the collapse. Many were shocked by this unexpected event, given that there are still more stories to tell with him.

Shore explained that they wanted to tell honest stories about life and death. To keep the series honest, something worst needs to happen and they wanted to throw the characters in this situation. He added they wanted to see the fallout from that.
