Malia Obama and Rory Farquharson have been dating since 2017. Though the two keep their relationship in a low key, paparazzi do manage to snap photos of them from time to time. Speculations have it that the two are already engaged but new rumors indicate that former President Barack Obama's oldest daughter has called it off.

According to the Globe, Malia called off the engagement after Rory was caught on camera cuddling another woman. It quoted a source as saying the 21-year-old Harvard student was "devastated" by the news as she thought Rory is the man she is going to marry.

Then the tabloid claimed former President Obama was relieved that Malia broke up with her British boyfriend because he and Michelle never like him, which is contrary to the tabloid's earlier claim.

Back in November 2019, the publication claimed that young Obama and Farquharson have been engaged. The former first daughter, allegedly, told her friends that she and the English beau got engaged over the summer.

"She has the ring, but she's too scared to wear it in public," the source told the Globe.

The insider hinted that Malia's worry of flaunting the rock on her finger was because she kept the engagement a secret from her parents. But then, the source claimed the former president and Michelle Obama have already met Rory and like him.

Yet, the young couple, allegedly, hasn't told the ex-first couple about the engagement. According to the tabloid, Malia and Rory's reason for not keeping the former's parents on the loop is that Farquharson would like to have a man to man talk with the former president to ask his permission.

Gossip Cop doubted that there is any truth on both Globe stories of engagement and calling it off. The site pointed out that if Malia's parents like Farquharson, they have no reason to keep the supposed engagement a secret.

Gossip Cop said that the Globe's latest claim that Malia and Rory called off their engagement is its way to rectify its earlier fictitious engagement story. It also noted that this is not the first dubious article that the Globe wrote about the Obamas.

In October 2019, the site also debunked the tabloid's claim that the former occupants of the White House were getting a $150 million divorce. It alleged that Barack tossed his wedding ring to Michelle and has also hired divorce lawyers.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Malia spent the Christmas holidays at Rory's home in London. She was photographed strolling around Islington, one of the trendiest places in north London.
