The CEO of Trip.com announced that China's domestic travel is set to recover to its usual normal activity by the summer. She claimed that her company is hopeful that the recovery on one of the industries hardest hit by the virus would mark healthy business activity for the rest of the year.

According to the CEO of China's largest travel website Trip.com Jane Sun, the Chinese domestic travel industry is set to resume normal operations before the summer holiday season in the country. She claimed that the company is confident with the government's solid control of health measures that would help the country recover from the adverse economic effects of the pandemic.

Her announcement came after Trip.com's Chairman James Liang started promoting tour packages for domestic travel in China. The announcement also ensured passengers that the containment measures are still being observed by travelers and that domestic travel, on the other hand, would start operations as Chinese citizens embark on journeys outside of their home.

Sun also added that there was a significant rise on travel volume within China. She then assumed that within a couple of months, the business would recover from its losses incurred by virtue of the travel restrictions imposed earlier this year. She also noted that China could recover swiftly and that the travel industry, being the sector badly hit by the pandemic, would experience growth in the coming months.

Trip.com owns Skyscanner, a prominent travel company that was badly hit by the pandemic in terms of revenue growth, financial losses, and declining demand for travel of consumers. In January, the company promised to pay for healthcare of its customers that were affected by the virus.

Last March, the senior leadership also announced that it would cut their salaries to aid the companies from significant financial losses. However, since the announcement, Sun and the business resumed activities.

Domestic travel has kickstarted in China. Hence, Sun announced that the company's next step would be to work with Asian countries on establishing a handle on the virus. The company is set to engage talks with countries such as Japan, Korea, and Singapore to ease present travel restrictions.

Sun also noted that it would be good for the travel industry to negotiate with other countries in establishing ways in which travel could still be encouraged. She also claimed that Asia should stand strong and be united and act as one team to boost domestic travel. She also suggested that preventive measures would be imposed by the parties involved to help the rest of the world battle against the pandemic.
