Master's Sun actor So Ji Sub has finally tied the knot with his girlfriend, announcer Jo Eun Jung. The actor's label confirmed the news through an official statement.
According to a report by Koreaboo, So Ji Sub's label 51K announced that the actor and his girlfriend have officially registered their marriage.
"So Ji Sub and Jo Eun Jung have decided to make an everlasting promise together, after meeting each other's most cherished individuals. After promising to be partners for life-based on their love and loyalty toward each other, the couple registered marriage today (April 7) and are now legally husband and wife," the statement read.
It further announced plans by the couple to hold an intimate ceremony attended only by their family members.
Recognizing that South Koreans are suffering through a challenging time, the couple opted out of a flamboyant ceremony and chose to donate ₩50 million KRW to an organization called Good Neighbors to help children who are having trouble with education acquire tablet PC's and smart devices to assist their studies amid the challenges brought on by the pandemic.
This is not the first time the actor made a donation to Good Neighbors. In 2017, it can be recalled that the actor donated 100 million won to the organization to help children of low-income families and to cover psychotherapy fees for victims of child abuse. The actor also donated 300 million won to aid the government's campaign against the deadly Coronavirus disease that has caused many South Koreans to fall ill and suffer from economic challenges.
As for the newlyweds, it can be recalled that So Ji Sub and announcer Jo Eun Jung officially announced their relationship only in May 2019. The couple reportedly met when the announcer interviewed him for his film Be with You for SBS's Night of Real Entertainment.
The couple, reportedly, met again through a gathering with acquaintances and eventually started dating.
At the time the relationship became public, sources close to the couple said that they were already dating seriously although no information was released on when they officially started seeing each other. Last year, Jo Eun Jung announced her retirement from her profession, seemingly heralding that she was preparing to get married, Soompi reported.
So Ji Sub, for his part, will continue to work actively as an actor after his marriage. Last year, it was confirmed that he will be starring in a new film with Kim Yoon Jin entitled Confession.
