Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's relationship really turned into a messy divorce. It might even involve some jail time.

Heard could be facing three years in prison if she would be found guilty of manipulating evidence to pin down her ex-husband. This was after a judge overruled the Aquaman star's plea to dismiss Depp's $50 million defamation case against her. The actor, reportedly, submitted nearly 90 surveillance footage that supports his defamation case.

Depp and Heard have been embroiled in a legal battle after the latter accused the actor of domestic violence. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor hit back and accused his ex-wife of painting her bruises so she could obtain a restraining order from him.

The defense team of the Lone Ranger actor also wanted to subpoena James Franco because he was seen with Heard in one of the surveillance footage. Franco, reportedly, saw Heard's face days before and after the London Fields actress went to court with bruises for a restraining order.

Another instance that Heard, allegedly, faked her bruises was when she claimed the Alice in Wonderland actor hit her during an argument that occurred the night before she made an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden in December 2015. The incident, allegedly, resulted in two black eyes. However, Heard's celebrity stylist Samantha McMillen denied the actress' claim, saying she saw the Justice League star on those days and she didn't have any bruises.

It has been noted that under the California laws, offering or preparing false evidence are considered felony crimes. It carries a maximum sentence of up to three years.

Meanwhile, in a recent deposition video of Depp, he recalled the fight he had with Heard back in May 2015. The actor admitted in the clip that he first claimed that the tip of his finger got cut because it was caught in the accordion door. Depp said he did that to protect Heard but that was not the true story.

The actor said his ex-wife smashed a vodka bottle and threw it at him while his hand rested on the marbled bar. This is contrary to Heard's court filing wherein she claimed Depp severed his middle finger while smashing a phone against a wall during a three-day booze and ecstasy spree.

Apparently, the incident took place a month after the two got married and while Depp was filming the fifth installment of the Pirates of Caribbean franchise in Australia. In a different audio tape that was recently shared on social media earlier this year, Heard can be heard admitting hitting her then-husband.
