Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently living in Los Angeles with their son Archie as most of the world are in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Until the emergency protocol is lifted, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be able to return to the UK to see the Royal family.

That being said, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are slammed for their decision to pursue a private life and abandon the Royal family during the coronavirus outbreak. Commentator Martin Daubney said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have "cut the umbilical cord" from the Royal Family in Britain's "darkest hour.”

"What I think, just 24 hours after the Queen's emotional speech, we have here the embodiment of sheer pointlessness of this couple now,” he said. ”What they could have done during this time is lend time and efforts to their country. I'm a patriot as you can probably tell. I'm a royalist, I think the Royal Family are fantastic. However, this pair has quite simply ponced off to Malibu. They are deeply in the pursuit of a professional career. They're entitled to do that but they have cut the umbilical cord from the Royal Family and in our darkest hour."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer senior royals as their roles ended on March 31st after they announced back in January that they wish to start a new life outside the Royal Family. After their announcement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex briefly stayed in Canada before heading to Los Angeles.

Just like Martin Daubney, Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha also criticized the couple for their decision. She said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are ”cruel" for "abandoning" the Royal family during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Harry and Meghan don't seem to care about families or people around them. Their self-preservation is quite disgusting,” she said. “They can throw stones all they want but they are the biggest hypocrites out there now. It's a devastating pandemic, the idea of abandoning their families without so much of a phone call is just shocking. And now to abandon the British people and the royal family at such a critical time it is almost, it takes me back to the colosseum in Roman times… It just seems so horribly cruel."

However, most people have urged the couple not to return to the UK at all. The poll set by Express read: “Should Meghan Markle and Prince Harry return to the UK to be with the Royal Family?” Over 6,000 people responded to the survey with a vast majority responded “no.” Eighty-eight percent (5,575 votes out of 6,396) said “no,” 11 percent (711 votes) said “yes,” and 1 percent (110 votes) said they “don’t know.”
